The search engine Google has announced plans for a healthcare Web site, which will allow patients to share their medical records with various providers to ensure a more accurate exchange of relevant data.
Eric Schmidt, Google CEO and chairman of the executive committee said "Any scenario where information is isolated is where health is not well deliveredsss," speaking at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society conference in Orlando, Florida. "We want to make sure all that information is available to the professional when they are in a situation like the emergency room."
Google has teamed with Cleveland Clinic to launch the project. Marissa Mayer, Google vice president of search products and user experience, said the company selected Cleveland Clinic as one of its first partners to pilot Google Health, because the health system already had online tools.
